Your customers’ identity,
verified at the source.

An ONECI product designed by Synelia, ONECI Connect confirms in real time, from the national ID number, that the person presenting is the one registered in the civil register, in a branch, on mobile or online. Synelia integrates it into your systems.

WHY NOW

The weak link in KYC is the document.

As long as identity relies on a presented document, the organisation inherits the risk of forgery with no way to remove it. The ID card is checked by eye, never against the register that issued it.

Yet the regulatory framework requires identity to be verified against a reliable, independent source. In Côte d’Ivoire, that source exists and it is unique: the National Register of Natural Persons (RNPP). ONECI Connect opens up access to it.

THE RISKS

What a document
does not prove.

Document fraud

Forged or borrowed documents at account opening, for credit, for over-the-counter withdrawals.

Identity theft and mule accounts

Accounts opened under a real identity by someone else, then used for fraud or money laundering.

SMS codes bypassed

SIM swap and phishing: the code proves possession of a phone, not the person’s identity.

HOW IT WORKS

A four-step flow,
invisible to the customer.

Example: account opening on a bank’s mobile app.

01

Request

The customer enters their NNI in the journey: account opening, sensitive transaction, KYC update.

Organisation’s journey
02

Biometrics

Face or fingerprint capture, on the customer’s phone or at the counter.

With consent
03

Verification

Encrypted real-time query of the RNPP, via ONECI Connect.

Source: RNPP
04

Response

Time-stamped Yes / No result, returned to the IT system. No biometric data stored.

A TRUST FRAMEWORK

Three roles,
clearly separated.

Owner

ONECI

Owner of ONECI Connect and guardian of the RNPP. Sets the access scope, governance, consent and traceability. Biometric data stays within its sovereign perimeter.

Designer and integrator

Synelia

Designed the solution for ONECI. Supports its integration into your systems (core banking, mobile, branch) and provides support and upgrades. Stores no personal data.

User

Your organisation

Consumes the service in its journeys, retains the customer relationship and the final decision, and archives the proof of verification.

USE CASES

Where identity
must be certain.

Customer onboarding

Account opening in branch or 100% remotely, with civil-status data pre-filled.

  • From days to minutes
  • Proof added to the KYC file

Sensitive transactions

Strong authentication for transfers, new beneficiaries and access resets.

  • Alongside or instead of the SMS code
  • Instant-payment compatible

KYC refresh

Customers update their file from their phone, without visiting a branch.

  • Fewer frozen accounts
  • Demonstrably compliant customer base

Anti-fraud

A verified NNI matches a single person: borrowed identities and multiple accounts become visible.

  • Money mules and bursts of account openings
  • Stronger AML/CFT files

Branch counter

Verification in seconds for a large withdrawal or an unusual transaction.

  • Standard camera or reader
  • No proprietary hardware

Online public services

Issuing documents and certificates to policyholders and service users.

  • CNPS pilot under way
  • Online certificates

SECURITY AND COMPLIANCE

Designed for
sovereign data.

End-to-end encryption

Every exchange between your IT systems and the RNPP is encrypted. No biometric data is processed in clear outside ONECI’s perimeter.

Zero third-party storage

Synelia stores no biometric or personal data. Only the result and the verification identifier are transmitted.

Ivorian legal framework

Processing compliant with Law No. 2013-450 on personal data, architecture reviewed with ARTCI, explicit customer consent.

Traceability

A time-stamped evidence log for each verification, usable by internal audit, statutory auditors and supervisory authorities.

IMPLEMENTATION

to full roll-out in 90 days.

Pay-per-verification pricing, decreasing with volume, with no heavy licence or hardware investment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What we’re
often asked.

What about non-Ivorian customers?

ONECI Connect covers people registered in the RNPP. For others, the current process is retained; extension to residence permits is part of ONECI’s roadmap.

What happens if the registry is unavailable?

A fallback mode is defined with you: the transaction is put on hold or verification is deferred. Availability commitments are set out in the contract.

Who decides in the event of a rejection?

The decision remains with your organisation. A biometric rejection triggers manual handling, never an automatic refusal.

Is equipment needed in branches?

Not for the mobile journey. At the counter, a standard camera or fingerprint reader is enough.

ONECI CONNECT

Which journey do you want
to secure first?

Mobile account opening, sensitive transactions, KYC updates or branch counter: we prepare the integration with you.
